Arches, Barberino
If you have read about my history, you know I have been a commercial photographer for over 45 years. That job has taken me to many countries, and this image is from one of those assignments.
It was the third time I was in Europe shooting for London-based McArthur Glen, Europe’s largest developer of designer outlet centers. This time we came to the newest one, the Barberino Center. Located about a 45-minute drive north of Florence, it is a beautifully designed layout that sits in the Mugello, a historic region and valley in northern Tuscany, corresponding to the course of the River Sieve. And the river actually flows right through the centre.
In the course of documenting a day in the centre (European spelling of course!) I captured a myriad of architectural details. And while the buildings are beautifully colored in the pastels you would expect to find here, somehow they just called out to me to be converted to black and white. This accents the graceful curves, and showcases the gorgeous architecture that elevates the Barberino centre above your average outlet centre.
