Arundel Castle

Arundel Castle

During our stay at Amberley Castle in Sussex, as depicted elsewhere in this gallery, we embarked on a brief excursion to explore the surrounding area. Being in close proximity to Arundel, we couldn't resist the opportunity to visit its castle.

Wikipedia provides an overview: "Arundel Castle is a restored and renovated medieval fortress situated in Arundel, West Sussex, England. Originally founded by Roger de Montgomery in the 11th century, the castle endured damage during the English Civil War but was subsequently restored in the 18th and early 19th centuries under the stewardship of Charles Howard, 11th Duke of Norfolk. Further renovations and enhancements were carried out from the 1890s onwards by Charles Alban Buckler for the 15th Duke. Serving as the ancestral seat of the Earls of Arundel and the Dukes of Norfolk since the 11th century, it holds Grade I listed status."

After a brief tour and leisurely stroll through the gardens, we departed, and I turned my attention to capturing the castle with my small plastic Holga camera. Upon scanning the black and white negative, I opted for an RGB color space, resulting in intriguing crossovers. Subsequent enhancements produced a yellowish tone, which I felt complemented the ancient ambiance of the subject—an almost millennium-old castle. The sense of history permeating the UK is truly captivating.
