I was in West Virginia on an assignment for an energy company. They had drilling sites to highlight, and it was late October, so it was optimum fall color time. I was delighted to be in those circumstances.
I got beautiful backlit shots of personnel at storage and drilling sites, and as I was winding down and driving back to my hotel, I saw a scene that I thought would work to showcase the brilliant color on display for my own files.
As I walked towards a spot to capture that image, I saw this pile of leaves, all mashed together under the now overcast sky. The colors and textures were just wonderful, and incredibly this is the only frame I captured of that scene.
