Autumn Roots
Autumn Roots
Another image from Maine…
I had stopped by a lake, and while I grabbed a few images looking out over the water, I only got one that later interested me. But between looking for a vantage point, I walked by some trees on the bank, and looked down just in time to see some sun that had broken through the sparse cloud cover raking across the spectacular roots and base of a big old tree. The composition of those roots, leading as they did from left to right, led me visually right towards the tree base The little red flower top center added a splash of color, along with the little tweaks of green ground cover. And it goes without saying that there is texture everywhere!
This image was a Juror’s Selection by juror Traer Scott in the “Trees” exhibit at The New York Center for Photographic Arts in 2019.
