Nature Breaking Through Stone – Fine Art Print of Plant Growing in Rock Crevice, Maine

An Unscripted Moment of Resilience

Busting Through was one of those little surprises you hope for but can’t plan. I was walking along the banks of a creek in Maine when I came across this striking scene—what looked like a green-leafed plant breaking right through a solid slab of stone.

Now, I’m no geologist (though fun fact—I’ve sold prints from this series to an energy company to hang in their geology department), so I can’t tell you exactly what kind of rock this is. Granite, maybe? And I’m not sure what the plant is either—if you know, feel free to email me! What I can tell you is that the composition stopped me in my tracks.

Fractures, Symmetry, and Subtle Power

The colors were so uniform across the stone, and the cracks, the diagonal lines, the slightly fractured symmetry—all of it came together almost like the frame had been built for it.

Nature is amazing like that. Quiet, patient, and often more powerful than we give it credit for.
