The early morning light backlights our subjects as they ride along, fenced in between the pens and corrals near the sale barn.
That same backlight highlights the rails of the fences, acting as a guidepost of leading lines to bring us in from left to right, directly to our subjects.
We have a natural proclivity to go from left to right in a photo if possible, as that is how we are accustomed to moving our eyes when reading, left to right. It would still work if the image were reversed, that is the lines would lead you into the subjects. But it just feels more natural when it is from left to right.
The brown dirt echoes the warm tones of the sun, with just a little touch of green accenting things.
