OK, technically an assignment, but in reality a self-assigned one. Let me explain….
Danny Everitt and I were in a band in Austin in the early 70’s, having a modicum of success. But when it broke up, I assessed my situation, and went back to photography, which I had been doing since age 13. Danny continued along the musical path for the most part, returning to it full time a number of years ago. I have done all his photography, and in actuality I jumped back in to playing again for fun 30 years ago. Anyway, when I started doing work for Bob McClaren and his 44 Farms Angus Beef operation, I saw this scene, a remnant from the original family members who settled the land over 100 years ago. I instantly visualized this image, but it wasn’t until 2016, when Danny told me he had a new release coming out titled “Dream Big,” that we were finally able to put my idea into tangible form. And I will say it came out exactly as I had envisioned. The only glitch is that it ended up as the inside spread of the CD, instead of the wraparound cover, as I was overruled by his wife, who thought the frontal shot we did while waiting for the sun to go down made him “look hot!” You can see the whole packaging, along with others I have done for my musical friends, on my commercial web site:

The photo hangs as part of my 7-image gallery at a local Houston restaurant, the one with a funny name; Jonathan’s The Rub. I also have an Ultra HD print of this hanging in my own office.
It was awarded a Gold at the local and regional level of The American Advertising Federation Awards, and a Silver at the national level.
