A Photograph Born of Friendship
This photograph grew out of a friendship that goes back many years.
Danny Everitt and I played together in a band in Austin in the early 1970s. When our paths diverged, I returned to photography while Danny continued his journey in music. Decades later he told me about a new album he was recording titled Dream Big, and the idea for this photograph finally found its moment.
Music at the End of the Day
We made the image on the grounds of 44 Farms near Cameron, Texas, beside a weathered homestead from the early days of the ranch. As the sun slipped below the horizon, Danny sat beside a small fire and played guitar while the last light faded from the Texas sky.
The photograph became the inside spread of the album—and remains one of my personal favorites.
