Golden Hour Sailboat – Limited Edition Fine Art Photograph of Puget Sound at Sunset

Seattle by Sea and Sunset

We were in Seattle at the end of June, just ahead of the 4th of July holiday, after a few nights exploring the Cascades. The weather was spectacular—the kind you always hope for in the Pacific Northwest. We soaked up Pike Place Market and even took a fascinating tour of the Seattle Underground—those old passageways beneath Pioneer Square that date back to the mid-1800s when the city’s streets were still at their original level.

That afternoon, we boarded a ferry to Bremerton and back, giving us a full view of the Seattle skyline from the waters of Puget Sound. (If you’re curious, there’s a black-and-white photo from that trip titled “Graceful Flight” in my black and white gallery.)

Sails, Sunlight, and Serendipity

As we returned to the Seattle dock, we hit golden hour—one of my favorite times to shoot. That soft, late-day sunlight blanketed everything in a golden glow, made even warmer by a bit of haze over the water. The color contrast between the rich yellows of the sun and the deep blue of the Sound was perfect.

And then, just as I was thinking the only thing missing was a sailboat… there it was. Full sails, perfectly backlit, gliding right into the frame.

Got it. Click. And then we went for salmon.

Available in a Limited Edition of 15, with 2 Artist Proofs.
