Lomond Creek
Lomond Creek
Another from the prehistoric days of film. In this case, with a Hasselblad shooting 2-1/4’ transparency film.
I was on an assignment in Scotland, and I honestly cannot remember for which company. Although it MIGHT have been the time I was in England and Scotland for The Compaq Computer Annual Report. But I had both 35mm and 2-1/4” cameras with me.
As I drove north on the A82 on the west side of Loch Lomond, at some point I saw something off to my left in the woods that caused me stop and explore. Now, there is not much parking along that road, so I don’t know if I found a place or just inadvertently broke the law. Bottom line, I ended up in a wooded field of Blue Belles, the Scottish equivalent of our Texas Bluebonnets. The tiniest trickle of a stream came down from the hills above, and a slightly slow shutter speed on the tripod mounted camera gave me a bit of a water blur.
Somewhere along the line I ended up with a 36” X 36” print of this, and it still hangs in my office. Just to remind me of where I always long to be;
‘For ye'll take the high road
And I'll take the low road
And I'll be in Scotland afore ye
For me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond’
