Mesa Falls Mist
While exploring the area around Upper Mesa Falls in eastern Idaho, I wandered away from the main overlook and discovered a quieter corner shaped by the constant spray of the falls.
Mist hung in the air, catching the late afternoon light as the sun dipped toward the western ridge. Shafts of sunlight streamed through the drifting vapor, illuminating mossy greens, wet stone, and the glowing surface of the water below.
A Moment Inside the Mist
Scenes like this feel almost otherworldly. The mist softened the landscape into something impressionistic — layers of color, light, and movement blending together in a way that felt more like painting than photography.
It lasted only a few minutes before the light shifted again, but in that brief window the falls revealed an entirely different world.
