We had driven west from Jackson Hole, over the pass to Idaho, up past Driggs and its airport, co-owned by Harrison Ford. Sharon would encounter Harrison at a gig a few years later, and we have a great photo of them.
Anyway, we were just exploring, and found d ourselves at Upper Mesa Falls, along The Snake River. While most people gravitated towards the falls themselves, we wandered further south, and I came across this spectacular scene, of a micro-climate existing in the mist generated by the falls. The late afternoon sun, peeking over the west bank behind resulted in shafts of light streaming through the mist. The green of the vegetation was punctuated by the chalky stone of the cliffs, with accents of orange here and there. It could have been a scene that Hollywood had conjured up, turned on smoke machines and then lit for a ‘Lord Of The Rings’ scene!
It was accepted in the APA Los Angeles’ “Off The Clock” Exhibition and The APA San Francisco’s “Something Personal” Exhibitions, both in 2013.
