On my second trip to Wyoming with Sharon, we found ourselves drawn off the main road while approaching Jackson from the south. A modest sign pointed us toward Union Pass, and curiosity led us on a long, winding detour along the Continental Divide in Bridger National Forest.
Still Water, Subtle Beauty
We stopped at a quiet turnoff near a pond—ringed with lush summer grasses and dotted with lily pads floating lazily across the surface. The silence was profound, broken only by the occasional rustle of wind and water.
A Boulder Framed by Nature
Amid the wild grasses, a boulder near the pond’s edge caught my eye. It peeked through the tangle of green like a quiet sentinel. I framed the composition with the boulder off-center, using the curved lines of grass and water to guide the viewer’s eye gently downward toward the stone. The result is a peaceful, contemplative image—subtle but strong.
