Reeds in Water – Grand Teton Fine Art Black & White Landscape by Michael Hart
A Personal Journey to the Tetons
My wife performed for over 15 years at the Grand Teton Music Festival, and when we got together, I was lucky enough to join her there a few times. Though I had never visited the Tetons before, her passion for the landscape made her a perfect guide—taking me to some of her favorite places during her off days.
From Yellowstone to Jackson
Our trip began in the north, after a night in Cody. We traveled along the Beartooth Highway, a route that gifted me several vivid color photographs, now part of my color collection. But once we descended into Jackson Hole and ventured along the Grassy Lake Road, something different emerged.
Black & White Reveals the Soul
We pulled over to explore, and I was drawn to a quiet patch of water surrounded by reeds. In color, the scene was pleasant but subdued. However, once I converted it to black and white, everything changed. The interplay of texture, light, and reflection came alive, elevating the photograph to something timeless.
