My wife performed for many years at the Grand Teton Music Festival, which gave us the chance to spend extended time exploring the landscapes surrounding Jackson Hole. On one trip we approached the Tetons from the north, traveling the Beartooth Highway before descending toward the valley.
A Quiet Study in Reflection
Along a remote stretch of road near the Continental Divide, we stopped beside a small pond where reeds rose gently from the water’s surface. The scene was quiet and understated, but the reflections and textures immediately suggested something more contemplative.
In color the photograph felt pleasant but subdued. When translated into black and white, however, the composition revealed its true character—the interplay of line, reflection, and tonal contrast transforming a simple moment into something timeless.
