On a Saturday morning in Hyde Park, the fog had begun to lift, leaving behind a soft, diffused light across the open meadow near Speaker’s Corner.

A group of weekend footballers moved through an improvised match, their energy cutting through the quiet of the park. I watched for a few moments, then began to photograph as the rhythm of play unfolded.

In one frame, everything aligned—arms and legs suspended mid-kick, the ball hovering above the players, and a single outstretched hand entering unexpectedly from the edge of the frame. The composition felt both structured and accidental, a fleeting choreography shaped entirely by timing.

The softness of the light led naturally to a monochrome rendering, emphasizing gesture, balance, and the subtle tension between control and spontaneity.
