Black and White Fine Art Photography – Glengarry Witness,
Loch Oich, Scotland
This black and white photograph depicts a centuries-old tree standing along a narrow Highland road near Loch Oich, not far from the ruins of Invergarry Castle. Its weathered bark and commanding structure reflect the endurance of the surrounding landscape — shaped by time, climate, and quiet morning light.
First encountered during an earlier visit to Glengarry, the scene revealed itself fully on a return trip in 2017. Soft light along the loch emphasized texture and contrast, and the image resolved naturally into monochrome. Without color, the structure of the tree — its mass, grain, and shadow — carries the full weight of the composition.
