I came across this scene while on assignment in the hills of West Virginia. After a day spent photographing industrial sites, I found myself driving along a quiet rural road just as the late afternoon light began to soften the landscape.
A wide pasture opened before me, surrounded by the vivid colors of peak autumn. Deep reds, oranges, and golds framed the rolling green hillside, while a single brilliant tree near the foreground seemed to glow in the fading light.
