A Study in Structure and Repetition
I was drawn to the rhythm of these arches—the way repetition establishes structure, and how light moves across the carved stone to define depth and form. The architectural detail is precise, but it is the compression of space and the cadence of shadow that gives the image its tension.
Light, Form, and Tonal Discipline
Rendered in black and white, the image relies entirely on tone and contrast. Without color, relationships between surface, shadow, and geometry become primary. The repeating arches establish order, while subtle variations in light introduce movement within that structure.
